Dear Prospective Partner School,
We are delighted that you are considering Science For Future to provide you with educational services!
Science For Future is a free program that works to expand the number of opportunities in science available to students from low-income schools. Our philosophy embraces diversity and the power of knowledge. We are completely funded by local benefactors and through fundraisers held by our volunteers.
We provide classes after-school either once or twice a week with class sizes of ~20-30 students, taught by our trained high school volunteers. We can run either independently or in conjunction with an after-school program already at your school. We can start classes at anytime during the year and personalize our curriculum to the needs of your students.
Our curriculum is divided into three units: the ecology, biology, and physics units. Each of our lesson plans in these units is designed to impart a certain skill such as note-taking or critical reading. Our curriculum keeps students at and beyond the level of required science standards, prepares them for any science standardized testing, engages them in activities and experiments as a kinesthetic learning component, updates them on current discoveries in science, and prepares them for their science fair.
Science For Future's goals include helping the students compete in the science fair, preparing them for any science standardized testing, and allowing them to participate in Science For Future's annual career fair where they present what they have learned throughout the year.
We hope that this information is helpful. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
The Science For Future Team
Dear Prospective Volunteer,
We are delighted that you are interested in working with Science For Future.
Currently, we have 16 trained high school volunteers, and we would love to join you with our team. There are numerous responsibilities you can take up as a volunteer.
The most common type of responsibility is teaching at one of our schools. You will be guided by another high school volunteer, and together you will teach at one of Science For Future's partner schools. The only qualifications are a passion for science and a commitment to your job. If you do begin teaching at a school, you will volunteer your time usually one day a week for one hour after school. You may receive volunteer service hours to turn in to your high school if you would like to do so.
Please contact us for more information or get started today. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
The Science For Future Team
